    Donald L. Stratton, 94, of Lorain passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the Mercy-New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following a long illness.
     Mr. Stratton was born in Pikeville, KY on October 13, 1923, the son of the late Alex and Minnie (nee Sloan) Stratton.
     He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. He served at Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. He earned the Good Conduct medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
     Mr. Stratton worked in the paint department at Ford Motor Co in Lorain with 25 years service: retiring in 1985. He worked previously as a coal miner for 14 years in Mingo County WV, at the Cold Creek Mining Co.
     He is survived by daughters, Patricia (Russell) Pruitt, Sandra (James) Frizzell, Janet M Stratton all of Lorain, Donna (Larry) Mark of Berlin Heights, 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 24 great great grandchildren.
     In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sons Bennie Stratton, Kenneth Stratton, Oliver Stratton, 4 deceased grandchildren and one great grandson.
     A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
     Burial will be private.
