Duane A. Sagert, 55, of Lorain passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at his home, peacefully surrounded by his loving family
Duane was born on October 19, 1962 to the late Mary Ann (née Mackin) Sagert and Donald C. Sagert, Sr. of Vermilion, who survives. He was a graduate of Vermilion High School and was the operations manager for Romco Fire and Safety Equipment in Lorain for more than 37 years.
Duane was an accomplished bowler, bowling multiple perfect 300 games and 800 series. He was co-founder and partner with his brother, Don, in Ole Roy's, LLC, a bowling ball cleaner company. He was also passionate about golf. He was a loving, compassionate man who loved his family and loved life. He was especially close to his best friend "Bear," his dog.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Sagert (née Shank); his beloved daughter, Stephanie M. Shank (Leslie Hamilton) of Mount Dora, FL; sisters Audrey E. Phillips (Rick Lotheridge) of Amherst and Kathy M. Sagert (Jeff Burns) of Vermilion; brothers Donald C. Sagert, Jr. (Kelly Boyer Sagert) of Lorain and Richard P. Sagert (Jeannie Freeman) of Vermilion; and several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother on January 29, 2018.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain from 10:00 am-noon and for the funeral service at noon. The Reverend Robert C. Shank, Jr., Duane's brother-in-law and pastor of Praise Chapel Assembly of God Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
