Mona Jean Smithberger, 83, (nee Adams) passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at her home
following a long illness. 
     Mrs. Smithberger was born in Punxsutawney, PA on February 2, 1934, the daughter of the late John Kunselman and Florence (nee Hawk) Shick. She moved to Lorain as a youngster.
     She was a graduate of Lorain High School in the class of 1952. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Lorain. 
     Mrs. Smithberger was a secretary in the Sheffield/Sheffield Lake School system for 25 years. She enjoyed being a grandmother, reading, knitting, traveling, shopping and playing solitaire. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
     She is survived by her husband of 66 years Dale E. Smithberger, daughters Joni L. (Dennis) Eastley of Tonapah, NV, Karen I. (Scott) Hall of Lorain, Kim A. (John) Smith Jr. of Amherst, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, with one more great-grandaughter on the way, sister Doris Smouse of Wellsboro, PA, brother Carl (Mildred) Adams, of Dora, PA, many nieces and nephews, especially her niece Donna Jo Snyder, who helped care for her in her last days and her beloved pet dog Missy.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Clair Adams, Mervin Adams, Boyd Adams, Russell Adams, Charles Shick and sisters Esther Kunselman and Edith Snyder. 
     Friends may call on Saturday, November 25, 2017 fro 10:00 am until services at Noon in the St. John's United Church of Christ, 715 Reid Ave., Lorain. 
     Funeral Services will be at Noon, November 25, 2017 in the church with Rev. David Rogers, pastor, officiating. 
     Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst Township, OH. 
     The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 715 Reid Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44052.
