Barbara Johnson Obituary

Barbara A (nee Barefield) Johnson, 67,  passed away peacefully May 29, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lorain Ohio and lived in both Lorain and Vermilion. Shortly after graduating from Lorain High School, she met and fell in love with her husband, Roger.. They would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in July.
Throughout their marriage she worked as a manager of Lawson’s, a manager of the Century Telephone Book Distribution Center, and Office manager of the US Government Census Bureau.
But her most joy and fulfillment was being at home as a devoted wife and mom. She raised her children and was a mom to any child in need of love and guidance. Her desire to love and help children led her and Roger to become foster parents; inevitably adopting another son; whom she watched receive his diploma at high school graduation just last week. She will be watching over him as he pursues his cosmetology license, as she loved when he fixed her hair and makeup.
She loved traveling and saw many sights in the mainland US, as well as Canada and Mexico. One of her favorite trips was to Hawaii with her daughter. She also made casino trips to Reno, Las Vegas, and Biloxi MS. She and Roger celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in Atlantic City, as a gift from their children.
Throughout her life she enjoyed being with her family and friends participating in various activities such as bowling, camping, shopping, ceramics, playing cards and bingo, making home videos, and hosting pool parties at home. She loved being outdoors and experiencing the beauty of nature; especially at their second home in WV, where she enjoyed four wheeling and family time.
She belonged to various organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary, The Twelve of Ohio, INC, (Foster Parenting Organization), and the Isaac Walton Conservation League.
She never enjoyed the spotlight, but was the rock of the family and the wind beneath many wings. Her smile and heart were true and she was loved and cherished by all who knew her. Her absence will be felt by many.
Barb leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted and loving husband of 47 years, Roger D. Johnson, daughters, Revonda G. (Scott R.) Johnson Pecze of Amherst,  Marlene T. Garcia of Lorain, sons Kevin (Dana) Johnson of Newton, NC, Alex C. Johnson of Lorain, grandchildren: Andrea Johnson, Felicia Johnson, Laura Young, Alysse Thomas, Dominic Pecze, Gabriel Pecze, Evie Waken, Adonia Vlahopoulos, great grandchildren: Hunter, Clara, Adam, Lorain, sister Cathy D. (Dave) Dieterich of Lorain and many nieces and nephews.
.She was preceded in death by her parents, Ermest C. and Juanita P. (nee Milligan) Barefield, a brother  Allen Barefield and a sister Donna Goodman.
