Donald Wesley Scarbro Sr., 81 of Avon passed away on Tuesday May 2, 2017 at the Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a brief illness.
Mr. Scarbro was born in Clothier, WV on September 30, 1935, the son of the late Wilson Wesley and Iva Ann (nee Lee) Scarbro. He was a veteran of the United States Air force.
He was a retired machine operator for General Motors in Parma. He retired in 1993 after 34 years service.
Mr. Scarbro was a family oriented man who loved spending time with his family, was a Little League Manager for 4 years, liked fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. He was a beekeeper with the distinction of only being stung once in his career.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Hazel L. Scarbro, (nee Stone), daughters, Loretta L Gnora of Lorain, Cynthia L Bryant of Elyria, Angela M. (Bill) Ans, of Parma, son Calvin S Scarbro of Avon, 26 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and a sister, Leona McCoy of Beckley WV.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sons Donald W. Scarbro Jr. & John W. Scarbro, brothers, Ed, Lindberg, Arnold, Larry, Ronald, infant brother, sisters, Josephine Canterbury and Vera Ann Moore.
Friends and relatives may call on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH 44052.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 9 2017 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
Burial will be on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio with full military honors.
