Elwood D. Thompson, 63, of Lorain passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a brief illness.
Mr. Thompson was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on April 2, 1955, the son of the late Charles E. and Minako (nee Takahashi) Thompson.
He was a 1973 graduate of Admiral King High School. He was a retired crane operator from US Steel, retiring in 2017 following almost 44 years of service.
Mr. Thompson enjoyed sports and was a profound Pittsburgh Steeler's Fan. He followed Miami's Dan Marino's football career as a fan. He also supported the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by a sister, Penny (Gary) Gut of Braceville, brothers Charles (Janice) Thompson of Vermilion and Tim Thompson, with whom he made his home in Lorain. He was loved by several nieces and nephews and many other loving extended family members.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Carolyn Thompson, and a nephew Jeremy "Jer" Gut.
Friends may call on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 10:30 PM in the Funeral Home with Rev. Michelle Nary, officiating.
Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.
