MARC D. JACOBY
1948-2018
Marc David Jacoby died unexpectedly on May 19, 2018.
He was born September 25, 1948, in Elyria, Ohio, the only child of his loving parents, George S and Pearl Mayer Jacoby.
He was an active member and trustee of the Agudath B’nai Israel congregation in Lorain.
Although born with profound physical disabilities, Marc overcame them through his amazing persistence and courage and the dedicated work of others. He spent much of his early childhood at a special school for the physically disabled in Reisterstown MD. Wheelchair-bound, he became a skillful driver of his specially-equipped van, often driving to Cleveland to pick up visiting family at the airport.
He was a scorekeeper and announcer for the LCC basketball team and was adept at using his computer to keep in touch with friends and relatives throughout the world. For many of his family, he was the primary clearinghouse for information.
Marc was also a storehouse of facts and statistics about hockey and baseball, his favorite sports.
The family is deeply grateful for the dedicated attention he received from his many caregivers.
A burial service honoring his life is to be held Tuesday, May 22, at 1 pm in the chapel of the Salem Jewish Cemetery, 1458 North Ridge Road, Lorain.
