Welcome to the memorial page for

Nickolas T Molas

March 4, 2017 ~ September 20, 2017

Nickolas Theodore Molas, born March 4, 1932, in Lorain, Ohio; passed away on September 20, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Nick truly enjoyed life; you would think at 85 with complex medical challenges he would have slowed down a bit, but not him not for a moment. He was always busy, active, and had a smile on his face. Just two days after surgery, he asked the doctor how soon he could play golf? He believed in the power of positive thinking and sheer willpower; truly believing if he willed things they happened.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Charles K. Ware. Upon completion of his military service, he returned to Lorain and joined the family business, T.N. Molas & Sons Furniture eventually serving as the company President until retirement.

He took great pride in being an active and long-standing member of the community. Occasionally, reminding the City of Lorain when the park grass was getting too long on his “personal practice course.” If you wanted to find our Dad after work you only needed to look to the park and you would find him with a golf club and golf balls in hand. Upon retirement, he continued to perfect his golf game in both Lorain and Scottsdale, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Nickolas (T.N.) and Nellie Molas and brother James T. Molas.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years Barbara (Harlan) Molas, daughters Tracy Beian-Kirk, Nicole Molas Schechter, granddaughter Lauren Rae Schechter, grandson Blake Nickolas Schechter, sister Mary Lacy, brother and sister-in-law Howard and Anita Harlan, and sister-in-law Nancy Molas, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, golf buddies, poker pals, and billiard chums. It is hard to imagine a life without him.

Interment will be private. Family and Friends are welcome to join us in a “Tribute and Celebration of Life” on Saturday, September 30, 11:30 am at Sunset Terrace—Lakeview Park, 1800 W. Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052. Please bring your favorite story about Nick to share with everyone.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Friendship Animal Protective League 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035-4746
