Shaun J. Kay, 34, of Lorain passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic’s main campus
Shaun was born on July 21, 1984 in Lorain, the son of Sheri (nee Evenchik) Kay of Black Mountain, N.C. and Roy F. Kay of Marietta, Ohio. On January 26, 2018, he married Jamie D. Krantz of Columbia Station, Ohio. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Jaelyn Kay of Toledo; a brother, Cory Kay, of Black Mountain, N.C.; and his maternal grandmother, Sheila Evenchik of Lorain.
Shaun was a 2003 graduate of Lorain Admiral King High School and attended Lorain County Community College, where he met his wife, Jamie. He earned an associate’s degree at LCCC and was working toward his bachelor’s degree in social work at Youngstown State University. Shaun planned to become an addiction counselor, a longtime dream.
A member of Agudath B'nai Israel Synagogue in Lorain, Shaun was an extraordinarily giving person who focused his life on helping other people. He worked at the LCCC Care Center for Addiction Recovery, providing support for struggling students.
A memorial service is being planned Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Agudath B'Nai Israel Synagogue, 1715 Meister Road, Lorain, Ohio, 44053.
In a demonstration of his commitment to others, Shaun was a registered organ donor. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lifebanc, the organization that supported Shaun and his family through the entire donation process.
