William C Frederick

  William C. Frederick, 85, of Lorain passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at his home unexpectedly.
     Mr. Frederick was born in Amherst on January 1, 1933, the son of the late Rudolph and Clara (nee Weichel) Frederick.
     He was a graduate of Lorain High School in the Class of 1952 and a veteran of the US Navy. 
     Mr. Frederick was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Elyria. He had served as usher and operated the sound system when needed. 
     He was retired from the former B. F. Goodrich in Avon Lake. Many years ago, he was a mechanic with the former Cleveland-Lorain Highway Coach. 
     Mr. Frederick was a very active senior, bowling three times a week in several leagues at Rebmans Recreation Center. He once bowled a 298 game, and currently was carrying a 176 average. He had numerous 600 series and he had also served as league president. 
    He played softball for Huff N Puffer Softball league. In 2017 he and his team won the League Championship. In the winter he played volleyball to stay in shape. Mr Frederick worked for years at Lorain County Speedway driving the safety truck. He was a life member of National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting, walking, crossword puzzles telling jokes and driving his restored 1976 Corvette. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. 
    Mr. Frederick is survived by a daughter Jennifer L. (Edward) Gaynor, of Lorain, a son Jeffrey W. (Terri) Frederick of Avon Lake, grandchildren: Megan Hoon, Jaclyn Gaynor, Brian Gaynor, Janette Mueller, Kurt Frederick, 11 great grandchildren, a sister, Ruth Murdy of Amherst and a brother Daniel (Nancy) Frederick, of Concord, Oh. 
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jane A. Frederick, (nee Cartwright) and a sister Vannette Matesic.
    Friends may call Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
    Friends may also call on Monday, January 15, 2018 from Noon until funeral services at 1:00 PM in the funeral home, with Pastor Chris Lalonde, of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, officiating.
    Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst with full military burial honors. 
    The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd, Elyria, OH 44035.
