Allister M Wright

      Pipe Major Allister M. Wright, 99, of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021 at the Cleveland Clinic - Richard E. Jacobs Health Center in Avon following a brief illness.     
     Mr. Wright was born in Belfast, Ireland on June 14, 1921, a son of the late Murdoch A. and Barbara (nee Robertson) Wright: moving to Lorain 74 years ago. He was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church in Amherst.      
     He worked as a millwright at Ford Motor in Avon Lake retiring in 1988, following 13 plus years of service.         
     In Ireland, he was a Journeyman Carpenter called a joiner.      
     Mr. Wright was a member of the Eagles Lodge 1442 in Amherst.      
     He was the Pipe Major of the Lochaber Pipe Band. He was the only person known to have been inducted twice into the Ohio Scottish Heritage Association Hall of Fame in 2003 for his personal dedication to his heritage and again as the Pipe Major of the Lochaber Pipe Band. Mr. Wright is remembered as playing for several hundred funeral services in the Lorain area.      
     Al is survived by sons Colin (Cindy) Wright, Glenn (Sabine) Wright, Craig (Joanne) Wright, all of Lorain, Donald (Sharon) McCormick of Carlsbad, CA, granddaughters, Cammie (Robert) Loy, Allison (Matt) Kolcun, Addyson Wright, grandsons, Darrell Wright, Iain (Rachael) Wright, Alexander Wright, Colin Wright, Nicholas McCormick, Grayson McCormick, great great granddaughters Anna Marie Loy, Audrey Loy, Bianca Kolcun, Marissa Wright, Reagan Wright, Tiara Wright, niece Cathy Wright, many other nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law Joan Hill and Nan Montgomery both of Belfast, Ireland.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sally (nee Montgomery) Wright in 2012, a daughter Shelley W. Wright, brothers Robert Wright, Alexander Wright, Duncan Wright, John Wright, Murdoch Wright, Donald Wright, Thomas Wright, sisters Mary Wright and Christina Nelson.     
     Friends may call on Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.     
     Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am in the Heritage Presbyterian Church, 515 Leavitt Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001 with Rev. Jenny Walker-Noyes, pastor, officiating.               
     Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst Twp. The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Presbyterian Church, Post Office Box 834, Amherst, Ohio 44001.     
     The service will be livestreamed on Facebook at Heritage Presbyterian Church - Amherst, OH.
