Betsy R. (Stauder) Labos

     Betsy R. (Stauder) Labos age 78 went home to be with the Lord on September 11, 2022. Betsy was born July 16, 1944 in Sandusky Ohio. She became a resident of Lorain, Ohio at an early age.

     She was preceded in death by her loving Parents, Ruth Stauder in 2009 and Eugene Stauder in 1987

     Betsy graduated from Admiral King High School in 1962. She played tennis and won many tournaments. She was in the very first graduating class. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Miami University in 1966. Betsy was privileged to spend a summer studying at The University of Hawaii. Betsy was an elementary school teacher for 32 years. Early on she was a substitute teacher for Lorain City Schools. In 1980 she moved with her two daughters to Berwick, Louisiana and taught for 3 years at Sacred Heart in Morgan City, Louisiana. In 1983 she returned to Lorain, Ohio and began teaching at St. Peter’s school in Lorain where she then retired in 2005.

     Betsy enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, decorating and arts and crafts. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lorain where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.  Her strong Faith in God has brought her much comfort throughout her life.

     Betsy was a loving and devoted mother to Amy Labos Hanratty and Tammy Labos Larsen (Keith). Cherished grandmother to Zackary, Joshua and Brynna Hanratty and Kaylee and Matthew Larsen. Beloved sister to Sally Stauder. Betsy is also survived by her dear cousins in Ohio, Louisiana and Wisconsin.

     Family would like to sincerely thank the loving and compassionate staff at Village of the Falls Assisted Living for the excellent care they provided over many years. Betsy called Village of The Falls her home for 14 years. Many thanks and sincere appreciation for the exceptional care and love that the staff at Brunswick Pointe and Bella Care Hospice provided her since April 1, 2022 and in her final days. You are all such a blessing to us, thank you!

     Friends and family will be received September 17, 2022 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. Fifth St., Lorain, Ohio 44052. Funeral service will begin at 11:00am with Pastor Virginia Kaaba presiding. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.

     In lieu of flowers family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Association to help change the future of this devastating disease and support for their caregivers. Betsy was diagnosed with Dementia in 2006 at age 62.
