Bruce E. Meadows, 86, of Lorain passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake.
Mr. Meadows was born in Basil, Ohio on May 20, 1935, the son of the late Harold S. and Wilda (nee Scott) Meadows. He was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class 1953B, and Cleveland State University earning a bachelor's degree in engineering.
He was an active member of the Episcopal Church of Redeemer in Lorain; where he served as a Lay Minister, Church treasurer for many years, Head of Vestry, sang in choir, trained acolytes and served on various committees.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves obtaining the rank of sergeant.
In 1955, he began working at Lorain Telephone Company as a lineman. He retired from what became Centurytel in 1997, where he was the company's PBX engineering supervisor.
He was past President and very active in the Lorain Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest honor bestowed by the Lions Club International. He attended Senior Fellowship and participated in Boy Scouts with his son. He collected telephones, enjoyed traveling, bowling and golf.
Bruce is survived by daughter Kathryn J. (Dr. Kevin) Kast, of Port Clinton; son David S. (Nancy) Meadows of Vermilion, grandchildren Dr. Courtney Kast and Steven Kast, and a sister Linda G. (Jerrold) Perch of Amherst.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane E. (nee Shepherd) Meadows on Feb. 14, 2015, a brother Carl Meadows and sister Janet Doman.
Friends may call Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. The Lorain Lions will hold a memorial service at 4:45 pm.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 10:30 am in the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 647 Reid Ave, Lorain, with Rev. Alex Barton, pastor officiating.
Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, OH.
