Bruce R. Rowland, 81, of Sheffield Lake passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic-Avon Hospital at the Richard E. Jacobs Campus following a brief illness.
Mr. Rowland was born in Cleveland on January 5, 1939, the son of the late Robert D. and Donna G (nee Gilbert) Rowland. He was a 1957 graduate of Willoughby High School.
He was a devoted member of the Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, where he was the snow plow operator, usher, videographer and helped with newsletter
Mr. Rowland was a retired truck driver with the former E & L Transport for 30 years service. He had been service manager for several local Ford Dealerships and especially enjoyed delivering the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
He was a member of the Local Teamsters Union. He was an avid race car enthusiast, especially NASCAR and stock car racing at Lorain, Painesville and former Cloverleaf. He also enjoyed fishing and boating.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 54 years Lynne M. (nee Quick) Rowland, daughter Michelle L.(Gregg) McDonough, of Middletown, son,Michael A. (Julie) Rowland of Lorain, grandchildren: Kaitlyn Ramey-Rowland, Robert McDonough, Christopher McDonough, Shane Ramey-Rowland, Steven McDonough, brothers, Dean G.(Lin) Rowland of Berea, Neal (Lois) Rowland of Olmsted Falls, and Clark (Rosalie) Rowland, of Indialantic, FL.
Service are private. A Celebration of Bruce's Life will be held at a later date.
He was laid to rest in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
