Carna Jane Czatt (Arbanitis), 91, of Lorain passed away peacefully on September 17, 2023 at Kingston of Vermilion following a brief illness.
Mrs. Czatt was born in Salem, Ohio on January 7, 1932, the daughter of the late Constantinis and Rose Arbanitis.
She was a 1950 graduate of Salem High School and a 1953 graduate of the Salem City Nursing School.
She worked as a Registered Nurse at the former St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain for 35 years. She retired in January 1997. The majority of her career was spent working as a critical care nurse for newborns, now known as the NICU.
Carna attended many of her grandchildren's events and activities and also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Sports Teams.
She is survived by sons Stephen (Cynthia) Czatt, of Glen Allen, VA; Jeffrey Czatt, of Avon, Eric (Shelly) Czatt of Lorain, grandchildren ~ Nicholas, Briana, Ashley, Kyle, Wesley; sisters, Mary Swegan, of Sebring, JacQue Iler of Salem, Sharlene Brown, of Conneaut Lake.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Jerry Czatt who passed Jan 28, 1987, brother James Rhodes, sisters Helen Benner, Glenda Berg, Sherry Lyons, Donna Lou Murphy, Betty Bartels, Mickey Brandt, Donna Crosser, daughter-in-law Deborah Czatt, and the foster parents who raised her, Jim and Clara Rhodes.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday, October 6th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm in her beloved church, Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road, Lorain, where she was a lifetime member.
A memorial service, commemorating her life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 7th at Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church in Lorain with Rev. Adam Davis officiating.
Private interment will take place at a later date at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, OH.
