Catherine Shaw

Catherine Neilans Shaw passed away Sunday February 16, 2025 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home.

Catherine was born in Port-Glasgow, Scotland on September 30, 1930 and lived in Lorain from 1954 until 2021 when she moved to Avon Oaks.

She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth McMahan (nee Neilans) and Robert McMahan.

She was a member of Community Congregational United Church of Christ in Amherst and had been an Elder at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Lorain.

Catherine worked as a Bookkeeper at Fisher Body and also worked at Llewellyn Pontiac, MIraldi & Barrett Law Firm and Central Trust Bank.

She enjoyed knitting, golfing, Scottish Country Dancing and was a member of the Cosmopolitan Dance Club, Lorain 400 Club, Lakeland Woman's Club, Knitwits and Wimodaughsis Club. She was also involved in numerous community food banks and knitted new born hats for the local hospitals.

Catherine is survived by

two sons Bruce Shaw (Susan), of Greensboro, NC;  John  Shaw (Misha), of Toledo, OH.

Catherine is also survived by Grandchildren: Heather Maness (Brad), Amber Artley (Jeff), Ian Shaw, Rowan Shaw, Amanda Gibson (Shane) and 4 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents and Husband of 55 years, Joseph Shaw.

Visitation will be held at Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals 1124 W. 5th St. Lorain, OH 44052 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A funeral service will then be held at the Community Congregational United Church of Christ 379 S. Main St. Amherst, OH 44001 with Pastor Brian Russell officiating at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at 1:45 p.m. in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery 44805 N Ridge Rd, Amherst, OH 44001.

The family requests donations be made to Community Congregational United Church of Christ 379 S. Main St. Amherst, Ohio 44001.
