Charles K. McPherran, 83, of Lorain Passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022 following a long illness.
Mr. McPherran was born in Cleveland on March 4, 1939, the son of the late Charles and Lucy (nee Barnum) McPherran. He was a graduate of St. Edwards High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He spent the majority of his working life as a truck driver, retiring from Yellow Freight Company after 35 years. After retirement, he joined the staff of the Great Lakes Livery Service providing transportation and removal services for most funeral homes in the grater Lorain area and the Lorain County Coroner. He worked with Great Lakes for 20 years. He then began a career on the staff of Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals as a funeral attendant. He was best known for his gregarious personality and his ability to help families during a most trying time.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 30, enjoyed watching football, and target shooting.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis A. (nee Baker) Hall, daughters Teresa Levescy of Comanche, TX, Mary Joyce of Rocky River, sons Kenny (Kelly Murton) McPherran of Comanche, TX, Michael (Darla Boani) McPherran of Parma, Jimmy (Joni) McPherran of Comanche, TX, step daughters Sharon (Dwight) Griffith of Feds Creek, KY, Vanessa Kilgore of Lorain, Lisa Hall of Lorain, Debbie Willard of Lorain, step sons David Hall of Lorain, Greg Hall of Lorain, Nicky Bustle of North Carolina, John Cassetta of Kipton, sister Shiela Soper of Lorain, brother Mick McPherran of Ashland, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott McPherran.
Friends may call on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 5-7 pm with funeral services beginning at 7:00 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. The Rev. Jeffrey Baker, pastor at the Church of God and Prophecy will officiate.
