Cheryl Strehle Obituary

Cheryl Ann Strehle (nee Stilgenbauer) passed away peacefully after a long illness at Admiral's Pointe Nursing Home in Huron on August 27, 2024.
 

Cheryl was born in Lorain, OH on March 12, 1949, the daughter of the late Eloise K (nee Kilgore) and Robert J Stilgenbauer.


She graduated from Lorain High Class of 1968, completed the Nursing program from the Elyria Hospital Nursing School and then earned her BSN from Bowling Green in Huron.
 

She was a long time member of Sandstone Community Church in South Amherst. 
 

She was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army serving in Desert Storm/Shield with the 350th EVAC Hospital Unit and earned the following medals/ribbons: National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal and the Southwest Asia Service Medal w/BSS-2.
 

She was employed as a Nursing Instructor at Lorain Community College for 10 years before retiring. Before that she worked for Lorain Community Hospital (ER) and Amherst Hospital (ER),  
Cheryl was a member of the Lorain Eastern Star holding all of the offices of that order, the Vermillion AMVETS post 22 and South Amherst American Legion.

 

She loved animals, especially goats and chickens. She also enjoyed gardening. 
 

Cheryl is  survived by her Husband Donald Strehle of Wakeman, Daughter: Becky (Trent) Hill of Wakeman and two sons Matthew (Melanie) Strehle of Medina and  Michael (Christina) Strehle of Vermillion.

She is also survived by Grandchildren: Taylor, Abby, Gwen, Sam and River. Stepchildren: Kyle, Gary and Bailey and her Great Grandchildren: Stephen and Peyton.
 

She was preceded in death by her Parents: Robert J Stilgenbauer and Eloise K Stigenbauer(nee Kilgore) and Brother  Dr. Robert Stilgenbauer.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Admiral's Pointe Nursing Home for the great care they gave Cheryl.
