Danford (Dan) B. Ault, 76, of Westlake formerly of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 in the Mercy New Life Hospice Center in Lorain following a short illness.
Mr. Ault was born in St. Clairsville on September 4, 1945, the son of the late John D. and Frances I. (nee Bigley) Ault. He was a graduate of Lorain High School in 1963 and Western Reserve University in 1967 with a B.A. in chemistry.
He was a member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church.
Mr. Ault was retired as the Q. A. manager of technical services at US Steel for 30 years. He was an avid local sports fan including the Indians, Cavaliers, Browns and the Buckeyes. He was an outstanding softball player and enjoyed horse racing and trips to Las Vegas.
Dan is also survived by sisters Carolyn L. Simmer of Vermilion, Linda L. (Dennis) Kinzer, of Lorain, brothers Joseph H. (Judith) Ault of Eloy, AZ, Richard H. (Maureen) Ault of Arlington Heights, IL, nieces and nephews, Lorri Sniezek, Gabe Sniezek, Alex Sniezek, Zach Ault and Sam Ault.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother in law, Al Simmer.
Friends may call on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 from 10:00 until funeral services at noon in the Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road, Lorain, with Rev. Adam Davis, officiating. Following the funeral, a celebration of Dan's life will be held in the church fellowship hall.
Burial will be private at a later date.
