Dorothy Weikel Obituary

In Loving Memory of Dorothy Weikel

Dorothy Weikel, born May 31, 1934, in Lorain, Ohio, passed away surrounded by love and faith on November 16, 2025. She was the cherished daughter of the late Helen (Lehman) and Clifford Weikel and a proud graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1952B.

Dorothy devoted her life to service, community, and helping others grow. She worked faithfully as a church secretary and shared her passion for leadership and fellowship through numerous organizations. A dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Queen City Chapter 66, she served as Star Point, Past Worthy Matron, and was honored with the Grand Cross of Color. She was deeply committed to youth and mentorship, serving Girl Scouts Troop 7 at Garfield School and holding roles as Past Worthy Advisor and Past Lecturer for the Rainbow Girls, as well as Advisor to Assembly #8 and Grand Lecturer. Dorothy was also a proud life member of the Professional National Education Association.

Family was at the heart of Dorothy’s world. She is survived by her sister, Beverly Weikel of Lorain, Ohio; her daughter-in-law, Kathy (nee Conway) Olak-Molek; and her beloved granddaughters, Regan Olak and Kaitlynn Olak. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her warmth, wisdom, and gentle humor.

Dorothy is reunited in peace with her parents, Helen and Clifford Weikel; her son, Thomas R. Olak; her sister, Betty Sisk; and her brother, William Weikel.

A graveside service honoring Dorothy’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 21, at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Thomas R. Olak Scholarship, c/o Huron County Community Foundation, 12 Benedict Ave., Norwalk, OH 44857—an enduring tribute to Dorothy’s devotion to education and opportunity.

Dorothy’s legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering devotion to others will live on in the many lives she touched. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
