Enrico (Rick) Freda

Enrico (Rick) Freda passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 following a brief illness.

Mr. Freda was born in Montenero Val Cocchiara, Isernia, Italy on August 13, 1938, the son of the late Rinaldo and Iole (nee Orlando) Freda. He immigrated to the US when he was 19 years old.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Parish in Lorain & St. Brigid Catholic Church in Georgia.

He was a licensed optician in the state of Ohio for over 50 years. Throughout those years, he worked for Bausch & Lomb, White Haynes, and a few Optometrists.

Mr. Freda was a long-time member of the Lorain Lions Club. He served many years as a key-holder for the Montenero Club on Broadway and remained an active member until he passed.

His hobbies included bowling, golfing, cooking, walking his dog Toby and spending quality time with his adored grandsons, Nicholas and Andrew.

Rick was proceeded in death by his wife of 46 years, Marie (nee DiCarlo) Freda and brother Antonio (Tony) Freda.

He is survived by his daughter Lisa (nee Freda) Amundsen (Dave) of Alpharetta, GA, grandsons Nicholas and Andrew Amundsen, sisters Carmela (Vincenzo) Caserta of Erie, PA, Maria Zidow, of Parker, Colorado, brother Giulio (Janis) Freda, of Parker, Colorado, and many nieces and nephews that he adored.

A funeral mass for Enrico will be held Monday, October 23, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022.

Family and friends may call on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Funeral Home, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052. 

Prayers will begin at 8:45 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2023  in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44053. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 555 N. Ridge Rd. W, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
