Etta J. Ramos, 73, (nee Dandrea) passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Jan. 30 2020 following a long illness.
Ms. Ramos was born in Lorain on December 5, 1946, the daughter of the late Emil T. and Ruth V (nee Gove) Dandrea. She was a graduate of Admiral King High School, Class of 1965 and the Northern Institute Of Cosmetology.
She retired as a professional hairdresser following 47 years in her profession. Most recent salon she worked was the former Creative Hair Design in Lorain. She was a member of the first team of hairdressers to work at the grand opening at the former Higbee's Beauty Salon at the new Midway Mall in 1966. She will be remembered as a devoted Mother; raising her two children alone.
Ms. Ramos was a past member of VFW Post 451 and a member of it's Majorettes & Fyre Flies Drill Team.
Etta was a lifelong Lorain County resident who loved gardening and canning the abundance of produce she so generously shared with friends and family. Etta worked very hard throughout her lifetime, yet sustained vigilance, love and vibrance which filled hearts with joy of whomever she’d meet. She was a selfless, accepting, proud and loving mother, best friend, aunt, sister, and grandmother. Etta embraced her passion of hosting every holiday gathering making all who attended feel warm and welcome. Etta took great pride in her nostalgia collection which decorates her home today. She also had a way with creativity and art; she’d take time to make personalized aprons sewn by hand and gifted them with love. Etta will be sorely missed, but her laughter, uniqueness, beauty, fortitude and vibrance will forever be in our hearts. Heaven has certainly gained another angel...a one of a kind.
She is survived by a daughter Antoinette V. Ramos of Lorain, a son, Anthony D. (Nicole) Dandrea of Wood Village, OR, grandchildren James Dandrea, Faye Dandrea, a brother Lewis F. (Linda J.) Dandrea of Cape Coral, FL.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Dale T. Dandrea.
Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020 in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain from 10:00 AM until services at 12:00 PM.
