Grace Yenni Obituary

Grace Yenni, 90, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away on February 21, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family and the memories of a life beautifully lived.

Born on January 7, 1936, in Hackney, London, England , Grace was the cherished daughter of the late Annie (Baster) and George William Dalton. From her earliest days in London to the home she built in Lorain, Ohio, Grace carried with her a gentle strength, a generous spirit, and a deep devotion to family and community.

Grace dedicated 25 years of her professional life as a librarian with Lorain City Schools in Lorain, Ohio. She believed deeply in the power of books, learning, and curiosity, and she delighted in helping young minds discover the joy of reading. Her quiet guidance and warm smile left a lasting impression on countless students and colleagues.

Service to others was woven into the fabric of Grace’s life. She volunteered faithfully at Lorain Community Hospital, supported and mentored young girls through the Girl Scouts, and lovingly served as Head of the Nursery at Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church. Whether caring for children, comforting families, or simply offering a listening ear, Grace gave of herself wholeheartedly.

She found joy in life’s simple and beautiful pleasures — singing hymns and favorite songs, tending her garden with care, searching for treasured finds while thrifting, and, most of all, spending precious time with her family and friends. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.

Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert A. Yenni, and her dear son, Jeffrey Scott Yenni. Though she deeply felt their loss, she continued to be a pillar of strength and love for her family.

She is lovingly survived by her three daughters: Deena A. Yenni of Lorain, Ohio; Lisa M. Yost and her husband, Bill, of Neapolis, Ohio; and Susan D. Yenni of Lorain, Ohio; and by her son, Stephen A. Yenni and his wife, Jane, of Wakeman, Ohio.

Grace also leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense pride and joy to her life.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 1:15  PM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, Ohio 44270, with Rev. Robb Cool officiating.
