Jack A. Elliott passed away peacefully on his 97th birthday, July 21, 2025, at Wesleyan Village in Elyria, Ohio, with his devoted wife of 73 years, Charlene (nee Bernasek) Elliott, lovingly by his side.
Born in Lorain, Ohio, on July 21, 1928, Jack was the beloved son of the late Mildred May (Saunders) and Gordon P. Elliott. He was a proud graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1946B.
A lifelong and faithful member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, Jack’s strong faith and commitment to service guided every step of his remarkable life. He honorably served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, returning home to begin a distinguished 46-year career in banking. Starting as a teller, Jack’s dedication, integrity, and leadership led him to become the President of JP Morgan Chase in Lorain, overseeing banking services throughout Lorain County.
Jack’s legacy of service extended far beyond his professional career. He was a 32nd Degree Shriner and a 75-year member of the Lorain Masonic Lodge #552, a past President of the Sheffield Lions Club, and an active member of the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce. He served as President of the Board of Directors for Saint Joseph/Mercy Hospitals, Chairman of the Board of the Humility of Mary (Finance Division), and on the Board of Directors for the Foundation of Lorain County Community College. Jack also played a pivotal role in the financial leadership and merger of Delaware Avenue Church and Christ United Methodist Church.
His exceptional community involvement earned him numerous accolades, including the “Young Man of the Year” award from the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, among many honors for his work with local hospitals and educational institutions.
Jack’s greatest joy, however, came from his family. He is survived by his cherished wife Charlene; his loving son Kenneth D. Elliott and wife Debra of Aurora, OH; granddaughter Sandra Keckan and husband Michael; and great-grandsons Benjamin and Charles. He is also fondly remembered by nieces Carolyn Graf (John), Linda Hadfield, and Joyce Elliott (Bernie Baka).
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Richard G. Elliott and Robert D. Elliott; his beloved daughter Lois A. Pribanic; his granddaughter Jennifer Elliott; and niece Barbara Kline.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road, Lorain, OH 44053. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Adam Davis. Burial will take place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Jack’s memory to Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
Jack will be remembered for his unwavering faith, tireless dedication to his community, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the institutions he strengthened, and the family who will forever cherish his memory.
