James D, “Jim” Sukel, 63, of Lorain passed away on September 18, 2024 at his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Sukel was born in Lorain on October 30, 1960, the son of the late Jack and Dorothy (nee Hassel) Sukel. He was a lifelong resident of the area and lived in many other states. He graduated from Amherst High School and the Ohio Technical Institute. He possessed many skills and was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others, as well as in his working career.
He was a member of the FOE in Lorain, NAMI of Lorain, and St. Peter Catholic Church in Lorain.
He was a devoted motorcycle and vintage car enthusiast, enjoyed boating, slot cars, model trains, entertaining friends, traveling, any and all kitty cats, and anything Science Fiction.
Jim is survived by his former spouse, Kathleen Bansek; son Jacob J, (Katrina) Sukel of Lorain; daughters Robin K, (Eric) Sukel, of Elyria, Angelica M Sukel, of Lakewood; sister, Jane Chawansky of Louisville, KY; and a brother, Gerald (Kathryn) Sukel, of Fox Grove, IL.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings Ronald Sukel, Patricia Rushton and Phillip Sukel.
A Celebration of Life to honor Jim’s life is planned for Saturday, September 28th, 2024 beginning at 4:00pm at the Lorain Slovak Club.
