Janet (née MacLachlan) Welder, 87, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2023, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY, after a short illness. She had lived for many years in both Lorain and Vermilion, Ohio, with her late husband.
Janet was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 27, 1935, to Alex and Marion (née Kenney) MacLachlan. She was a graduate of Brookside High School.
A happy extrovert, Janet enjoyed interacting with people in her various jobs in sales and marketing. She retired from CenturyTel after 25 years serving in roles from operator to marketing coordinator. Janet’s hobbies included cooking, gardening, and spending time with her loving family. An avid reader, Janet volunteered with Friends of the Ritter Library in Vermilion.
A wonderful mother, Janet is survived by son Walter P. Welder of Louisville, KY; daughters Ellen M. Morrison of Toronto, Canada, Wendy J. Welder of Cincinnati, and Katie S. Janke (Doug) of Westlake, OH; and grandson Angus Morrison of Toronto, Canada.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Walter Welder, and a son, Thomas A. Welder.
Arrangements are being handled by Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals in Lorain, OH. Burial will be private at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst, OH.
