John Kenzik Obituary

     John Michael "Johnny" Kenzik, 73, of Lorain passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Avon Hospital at Richard E. Jacobs Campus-Cleveland Clinic following complications of CoVid.
     Mr. Kenzik was born in Lorain on May 19, 1947, the son of the late John and Mary Elizabeth (nee Kuhar) Kenzik. He was a graduate of Lorain Admiral King High School and a member of the former St. Lad's Catholic Church; he served as an altar boy.
     He is a veteran of the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant serving in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Air Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
     Mr. Kenzik was retired from US Steel having worked in the testing lab. He is a member of the Disabled American Veterans-Louis Proy Post 20.
     He enjoyed fishing, breeding and hand feeding birds, especially cockatiels, love birds, and pigeons. His home was affectionately called "Noah's Ark" because each species of animals he had, he had a pair. He also was a Little League Baseball coach.
     John is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sandra L. (nee Coates) Kenzik, daughters, Lisa M Kenzik of Amherst, Wendy M (Michael Hamilton) Kenzik of Lorain, Tara (Anthony) Kocan of Virginia Beach,VA, Erika Alpaugh of McComb, son, David (Stormy) Kenzik of Cincinnati, step daughter, Rachel A. (David) Bayes of Liberty Center, step son Adam A Budweg of Lorain, 14 grandchildren, sisters Betty Ann (Louie) Velasquez and Mary Jean Crouch all of Lorain. 

     In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Joseph Kenzik and a sister Margie Medina.
     Friends may call on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm services in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. Father John Retar will officiate. Full military honors will be provided at the funeral home.
     The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Louis Proy Post 20, 1319 W Erie Ave, Lorain, OH 44052.
