John Loufman Obituary

John C. "Jack" Loufman, 93, of Wakeman entered into Heaven Tuesday, May 28, 2019, after a long and wonderful life.

Jack was born at home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on February 22, 1926, the son of the late Paul C. and Celia J. "Josephine" (nee White) Loufman and several years later his sister, Joan, was born.  Upset by the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he completed his Senior year in High School early to join and serve in the U.S. Navy Air Force during World War II. After serving, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh.

On September 20, 1947, he married his sweetheart, Irene.  He was 21 and she was 19.  They had 5 children. They were a wonderful example to many during the 61 years they shared together.  It broke Jack's heart when Irene passed away in 2009 - he was 83.  He looked forward to the day they would be together again. He was a loving provider in every respect.

If you asked him what he did for a living, he would start with, "well, I was a paper boy", and take you through his many jobs up to his career with Price Waterhouse which began in 1957.  While with Price Waterhouse, he went from Pittsburgh to Buffalo, to Cleveland and then to Chicago.  In 1983 he retired as a management consultant and moved back to Ohio. He received numerous data processing awards and certifications.

He was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church and had been a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church.  God and church were a priority for him and he was very active in the church serving as usher, on the finance committee, Lay Minister and taught Vacation Bible School. He was a very generous, charitable man, giving his time and financial support to help others in many ways.  It was important to him to be a contributor.

He was a member of the Birmingham Lions Club, 12 O'clock Club, served Meals on Wheels, Harvest of Antiques, Board of Zoning Appeals, several Bridge Clubs and the Little Theater. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed golfing (He had a Hole In One), water and snow skiing, tennis, gardening, hunting, fishing, camping and RVing. He traveled to every state in the United States and outside the United States as well. He liked bowling, making wine and playing cards. Most of all, he loved being and having fun with his family and friends.

Jack is survived by daughters, Dawn L. (Edward T.) Quarick, of Wakeman, Vicky L.(William) Beckwith, of Solana Beach, CA; sons Jon W. (Julie) Loufman, of Bay Village, Joel P. (Barbara) Loufman, of Bay Village, James F. (Maryann) Loufman of Downers Grove, IL; grandchildren: William J. Beckwith, Daniel Beckwith, Michael Loufman, Christopher Loufman, Andrew Loufman, Erica Loufman, Edward Quarick, Alyssa Karim, Larissa Loufman, Daniel Loufman, David Quarick, Alexandra Loufman, Nicholas Loufman; great grandchildren: Liam Beckwith, Owen Beckwith, Lily Beckwith, Robert Beckwith, Joseph Karim, Micah Karim, Isaac Karim and a sister Joan Davies.

In addition to his parents and his wife Irene Rose (nee Puspoki) Loufman, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Jessica Rose Quarick.

A celebration of his life will take place on September 21, 2019, with church service starting at 11:00 a.m. at Birmingham United Methodist Church located at 15018 South Street in Birmingham; burial at Birmingham Cemetery, reuniting him with his loving wife, Irene; then reflection and sharing of memories at the Bettcher Community Center in Birmingham.
