John Morrisson Obituary

John Garver Morrisson, 83, of Lorain, OH, passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2025, due to complications of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, which he was diagnosed with just 10 weeks prior to his death. John was the son of Joseph John Morrisson and Joan Garver Morrisson. He grew up in Lorain and met his devoted wife of 61 years, Patricia “Pat” Cook Morrisson, when they were teenagers. John attended and graduated from Howe Military Academy, Denison University (bachelor’s degree) and Case Western Reserve University (law degree).  He and Pat married soon after his graduation from Denison. John worked for many years as an attorney for the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office and also had a private practice in Estate Law.  John was an active member of the Community Congregational United Church of Christ in Amherst, OH, the Lorain Rotary and the Men’s Senior Fellowship Group of Lorain.

John was a devout Christian and gentleman in all respects, always concerned about the welfare and comfort of his family and friends. He and Pat loved to travel, especially with their close friends, and he always enjoyed the views of beautiful Lake Erie. In addition to travel and spending quality time with family and friends, John loved watching football, reading, attending University Club and Fellowship Supper Club meetings, and finishing most dinners with “just a small serving” of ice cream.  He especially enjoyed his close relationship with his and Pat’s friends in the Rags To Riches Investment Club.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son Skip Morrisson (wife Kimberly Morrisson) of Put-In-Bay, OH, his daughter Margee Dresing (partner Timothy Olean) of Easton, MA, his daughter Cindy Morrisson of San Luis Obispo, CA, as well as five grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, Charlie, Bailey and Liam.  He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Patty Morrisson.  The family is forever grateful to the Hospice of the Western Reserve for the care they provided in his final weeks.

Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Community Congregational United Church of Christ (379 S. Main St, Amherst OH 44001); the Rotary Club of Lorain (P.O. Box 581, Lorain OH 44052); or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (230 East Ohio St, Suite 500, Chicago IL 60611).  Burial will be private, and a Memorial Service and Reception is scheduled for Saturday, March 22rd at 11:00 AM at the Community Congregational United Church of Christ in Amherst, OH.
