Josephine "Josie" Frances McFadden (nee Delfino), 94, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, after a brief illness and a long and full life that touched countless hearts in Lorain, Ohio.
Born on March 19, 1929, to George and Mary (nee Stanziano) Delfino, she graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1947B, during a time when the city was experiencing significant growth and industrial development.
Josie's career was as diverse as it was impressive. She began as a secretary, showcasing her organizational skills and attention to detail. Her time as a classified ad proofreader at The Morning Journal honed her eye for accuracy and her connection to local businesses. At General Industries, she contributed to the manufacturing sector that was so crucial to Lorain's economy. As a dental assistant for James T. Veach, she demonstrated her versatility and care for others. It was there that she met her husband Ronald when he came in as a patient. Josie concluded her professional journey with the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake school system, where she left an indelible mark on the lives of thousands of students, ensuring they were well-nourished and cared for.
Josie's love for casino trips and bus excursions led her on numerous adventures, often accompanied by her beloved husband, Ronald. They reflected the joy and zest for life that she embodied. Josie was an active member of several local organizations, including the Lorain IAV, St. Peter's Seniors, and St. Peter's Social Club, contributing to the vibrant social fabric of the area.
At home, Josie was the heart of her family. She delighted in spending time with her loved ones, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all who entered. Her passion for games, especially bingo, brought joy to multiple generations, as she often played with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. This love for games and social interaction was a testament to her vibrant personality and the strong family bonds she nurtured.
Josie is survived by her son Tim Kasperovich (Annie), daughters Cindy Ortiz (Angelo) and Diane Freedman (Larry), as well as seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters Donna Dominico (Fred), Carolyn Delfino, and brother Dennis Delfino. Her family was her greatest pride, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ronald McFadden in 2021, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and adventures.
Friends may call on Saturday, January 4th from 10:00am-11:30am at the Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, followed by graveside services at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township. A celebration of Josie's life will be held immediately after graveside services at the Croatian Club, 4846 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH, until 2:00pm.
