Julius Schonhiutt passed away peacefully from a brief illness on Saturday July 13th 2024. He was born in Cleveland on July 10, 1936, to the late Molly (Nee Kappleman) Schonhiutt and David Schonhiutt.
Julius graduated from Glenville High School and was a featured speaker at his graduation
He was a member of the AGUDATH B'Nai Israel synagogue in Lorain, OH 44052.
He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.
He was the owner/operator at Shane Furniture in Elyria and Lorain for 60 years until he retired in 2023.
Julius was a philanthropist, artist (acrylics/water colors), Gymnastics leader, he enjoyed singing, playing the harmonica, attending musicals, dinner theaters and eating at good restaurants.
Julius is survived by his son Adam J Schonhiutt of Lorain, two sisters, Evelyn Goldman, (widow of Jerry) of Orangevale, CA and Mildred Desatnik of Lorain.
He is also survived by granddaughter Brianna Schonhiutt, grandson Shane Gontarz & Tutrish Dolin, great grandson Josh Dolin Jr., Caleb Dolin and Arial Dolin.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara R. (nee Lash) Schonhiutt, daughter Annette Schwartz Dolin, grandson Josh Dolin, brothers Nathan Schonhiutt, Sam Schonhiutt, and sister Sylvia Cohen.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 17th at Salem Cemetery 1461 N. Ridge Rd. in Lorain, Ohio with Arnie Milner officiating.
Evening Shiva and visiting with the family on Wednesday and Thursday 5-7pm in 4910 Oakhill Blvd. Lorain, Ohio 44053.
