Kathryn L. (Norcross) Kress

     After a lengthy illness, Kathryn N Kress (Kitty) 85, passed away December 16, 2022 at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria.
     Mrs. Kress was born in Lorain on May 9, 1937 to Frank M. and Alice R. (nee Whittaker) Norcross. She was a 1955 graduate of Lorain High School in Lorain. After attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio she was employed by The Lorain Telephone Company.
     In the late 1950’s she met Kenneth R. Kress. They married in 1960 and would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in June of this year.
     Kitty enjoyed singing in the church choir at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Lorain, as well as other church membership: First Church United Church of Christ in Oberlin, The Tabernacle at Linwood Park in Vermilion, and in later years Avon Lake United Church of Christ in Avon Lake.
     Throughout her life, Kitty donated countless volunteer hours, participating in fundraising activities. She was particularly fond of her time spent during Lorain’s Urban Renewal for Civic Center Madness and revival of The Lorain Palace Theater. She was a past president of Lakeland Women’s Club and active in Wimodausis Club.
     As an artist at heart, over the years Kitty passionately supported; The Cleveland Ballet, The Cleveland Orchestra, Lake Erie Opera Theater, The Front Row & The Cleveland Playhouse. Although she spent her summers at Linwood Park, she avidly supported performing art and musical venues in Wooster and Oberlin as well.
     Along with Kenneth R Kress, husband of 62 years, Kitty is survived by 3 children: Paul C. (Amy) Avon Lake, Carrie A. (Joseph Senko) Everett, Washington: Kathryn E Kress McNeil Avon Lake, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
     Kitty was preceded in death by a son, Daniel C. Kress in September 1983. Her parents Frank M and Alice R Norcross, sisters Dorothy Hitzke, Barbara Green and recently, brother Frank A Norcross.

     A service, pending adverse weather conditions, is tentatively scheduled for the 1st week of February 2023 , an announcement will be released by Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Funeral Home in Lorain.      The family suggests that memorial contributions maybe made to the Lorain Public Library, 351 W. 6th Street, Lorain, 44052, in the name of Kitty Kress.
