Kevin Rodgers passed away on July 7th 2024 due to complications from cancer and diabetes. He passed away at home peacefully, surrounded by his family at the age of 67. He was born in Lorain, OH on May 7, 1957, the son of the late Eleanor Jean (Nee) Caldwell and Warren Clyde Rodgers.
His childhood was spent fishing, swimming and snipe hunting at the family cabin in Fish Creek West Virginia with his extended family. He graduated from Lorain High in the class of 1975 where he lettered in track and field.
Kevin lived most of his life in Lorain working as a Social Worker for Catholic Charities, Crown Industries, J & R Moving and worked at Skateworld for 10 years.
He retired in 2017 to be a full time caregiver to his mother until she passed in 2020.
Kevin was known as a caring and compassionate soul to friends and strangers alike. Many people can relate stories about his helpfulness in their times of need.
He was a longtime contributor to the woodenboatforum.com and loved working on wooden boats.
Kevin had a lifelong love of music. Pink Floyd, Warren Zevon and Tom Petty were just a few favorites. He worked as a roadie for local bands, working the door for local rock clubs and attended countless concerts. Lately he enjoyed Rocking on the River and shows at the Lorain Palace Theater. He also enjoyed following the efforts of his musical friends and family as well.
Kevin is survived by three sons Michael David Rodgers, Nicholas Allen Rodgers and Samuel Arthur Rodgers; two sisters, Vicki L (Mike) Sonsalla of Yakima, WA; Elizabeth, (Mark) Debow of Charlottesville, VA. and brother, Mark (Tracy) Rodgers.
He is also survived by grandchildren; Allyssa Rodgers, Brooke Rodgers, Derrick Rodgers, Tristan Rodgers, Devin Rodgers, Trenton Rodgers.
He was preceded in death by his father Warren R Rodgers and mother Jean Rodgers (Nee) Caldwell.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20th at Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals in Lorain, Ohio.
