Leah White Obituary

Leah Vanessa White, age 42, was born on April 14, 1982, in Oberlin, Ohio, the beloved daughter of Thomas Gerald White of Lorain, Ohio, and the late Judith Gail (Beatty) White.

Leah was a proud graduate of Lorain Admiral King High School, Class of 2000. She continued her education at Lorain County Community College, later earning her degree from Brigham Young University in 2013, and completing additional studies at Youngstown State University in 2020. Her lifelong commitment to learning reflected her deep desire to serve and uplift others.

Leah devoted her professional life to helping those in need. She worked as a therapist at Riveon Mental Health and Recovery, formerly The Nord Center, where her compassion, patience, and gentle presence touched countless lives. She also served faithfully through her work with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, living her beliefs through service, kindness, and love.

Family was at the heart of Leah’s life. She cherished time spent with those she loved and was known for her warm spirit and thoughtful nature. Leah had a joyful love for music—she sang, played multiple instruments, and found comfort and expression through song. She was a devoted fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a detail that perfectly reflected her playful heart and enduring sense of wonder. Leah was truly a kind and gentle soul.

She was the recipient of The Lorain Admiral King Juke Box Award, an honor that celebrated her love of music and creative spirit.

Leah is survived by her father, Thomas G. White, and his wife, Mary Ellen White; her sister Deanna Straw and husband Mike: her aunt Jane-Ann Clarke and husband David; uncle Doug White and wife Sue; uncle Ken Beatty and wife Sandie; great uncles Jim White, Earl Beatty, and Ralph Beatty and wife Marilyn; and great aunt Doris Yinger and husband Terry. She is also survived by her close friends, Eli Miller and Sister Lakesha Church.

She will be lovingly remembered by her cousins Katie Trefren, Rebecca Hook, James Clarke, Carolynn Clarke, Brittany Beatty, Erik Beatty, Rachel Frye, and Maggi Frye.

Leah was preceded in death by her grandparents, Tom and Myrtle White, and Paul Beatty and Barbara Dean Beatty; her mother, Judith Gail White; her aunt Tami Frye; and her uncles Greg White and Barry Beatty.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 9th at Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street Lorain, Ohio. Public visitation will take place from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by the memorial service at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Jeff Jackson officiating.
