Lois Kubishke Obituary

      Lois Kubishke (nee Hurst) passed away on Thursday, February 23 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain.
     Mrs. Kubishke was born in West Plains, Missouri, the daughter of the late Jack and Mary (nee Perkins) Hurst. She was a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University earning a Bachelor's Degree in education and art history.
     She was a member of Community Congregational United Church of Christ in Amherst, and a very active member of the former First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lorain. She served as a Sunday School Teacher and Circle 7.
     Mrs. Kubishke was a teacher in the Lorain City Schools for 33 years retiring in 2003. She taught elementary and special needs students.
     She was a member of the Eastern Star Queen City Chapter where she served as worthy matron several times and as treasurer. She had also served as the Chaplain of Cleveland Beauceant and was a strong supporter of the Knights Templar Eye Foundation and RTS Layettes.
     Mrs. Kubishke enjoyed reading and cooking and watching her grandchildren.
     Lois is survived by son, Robert A. (Anita) Kubishke of Lorain, Leigh (Rudy Celestino) Kubishke of Lorain, Leslie (Douglas) Carson of Amherst Twp, grandchildren, Jessica Sterna, Michelle Kubishke, Rebecca Kubishke, Griffin Koelsch, Martin Koelsch, Mason Kubishke, and a great grand daughter Holly Sterna.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert R. Kubishke in 2003, brother Jack Hurst, sisters, Louise Summers, Mary Seville and Lucille Kersey.
     Friends may call on Monday, February 27, 2023 from 4-7 pm in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. Eastern Star Services will be preformed by Stone City Chapter of Eastern Star at 6:30 pm.
     Funeral services will be held at 10:00 on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in the funeral home with Rev. Brian Russell officiating; followed by burial in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township.
