Mary McKinney Obituary

Mary Elizabeth McKinney, age 84, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, at Mercy Health New Life Hospice, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on March 16, 1941, in Bethesda, Ohio, Mary was the cherished daughter of the late Virginia M. (Murphy) and Carl E. Lynn. Her life was one of generosity, kindness, and deep devotion to those she loved.

Mary worked in assembly at Gel-Pak, where her strong work ethic and friendly nature earned her the admiration of her coworkers. Outside of work, Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life—she loved playing bingo, exploring garage sales, attending auctions and flea markets, and crocheting beautiful pieces for those she loved.

She had a compassionate heart and an unwavering love for people. Mary was always ready to lend a helping hand, especially to her elderly friends—driving them to appointments, helping with groceries, or doing laundry. Her selflessness and gentle spirit left a lasting impact on many.

Among her greatest joys was the special bond she shared with her beloved grandson, John, and her great-grandson, John Sharp IV. Family was the cornerstone of Mary’s life, and her love extended deeply to each generation.

Mary is survived by her devoted daughter, Donna Lee, wife of John Robb of Hinckley, Ohio; and her son, James Walter McKinney, Jr., of Lorain, Ohio. She also leaves behind her treasured grandson, John (Kristen) Sharp III of Richfield, Ohio; three step-granddaughters, Michelle (Joe) Dallas of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, Janine Robb of Brookpark, Ohio, and Jonelle (Mitch) Green of Lexington, South Carolina. Mary’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: John Sharp IV, Addison Sharp, and Riley Sharp; as well as great-step-grandchildren Roland Eckstein IV and Julia Green.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Walter McKinney, Sr.; her sister, Alice (Lynn) Nichols; and her brother, Paul E. Lynn.
