Paul Michael Thayer, 65, of Lorain Ohio passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 1, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia Ann (Sandak) Thayer and Paul Irving Thayer.
He is survived by sisters Susan E. (Karen Foreman) Thayer of Vermilion, Ohio; Judy (Rick) Hann of Carroll, Iowa and Tim Thayer of Vermilion, Ohio; nephew Joshua (Paige) Thayer of Wakeman, Ohio; niece Betsy (Adam Petitt) Thayer of Vermilion, Ohio; Jack (Jennifer) Randleman of Des Moines, Iowa; Jana Randleman of Rio Vista, California and Jenny Randleman of Lehigh, Iowa.
Paul was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion, Ohio where he served at mass. He more recently attended Saint Helen Catholic Church in Cleveland, Ohio and Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain, Ohio. Paul graduated from Vermilion High School in 1976 and from Ohio University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He attended both Ohio University and Kent State University to work toward a master’s degree in European History. Paul worked as a substitute teacher in Vermilion and Amherst Schools and as an independent tutor. He taught Latin, Spanish, social studies, English composition, and arithmetic.
A celebration of life pot luck will be held on Saturday August 19th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at The Coupling, 11618 State Route 13, Milan, Ohio 44846.
Memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s name to Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
