Richard Dvorscak Obituary


Richard (Rich) Eugene Dvorscak, 82 of Vermilion passed away January 18, 2025 at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash Ohio. 

Rich was born in Elyria, Ohio on November 3, 1942 the son of the late Marcella (Knisely) Dvorscak and John Henry Dvorscak and was a lifelong resident of Vermilion. He spent his last 2 months with his wife at the home of his Daughter and Granddaughter in Loveland, OH. 

Rich served in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1961 and 1962 at Camp Lejueune in North Carolina and was honorably discharged in 1967 to care for his younger brothers after his Father was injured at the American Ship Building. 

He was a lifelong member of the NRA and AMVETS Post 22 in Vermilion. He was also a member of the Beaver Creek Sportsman's Club teaching concealed carry classes and the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain.

Rich enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing in his earlier years. In more recent years he enjoyed boating and fishing with his son and friends.

He was a driver for Meals on Wheels at The First Lutheran Church in Lorain. He and his Wife also coached girls softball in Vermilion and later in Lorain. He spent many hours teaching bowling to children at Lake Erie Lanes in Vermilion.

Anyone who knew Rich, experienced his quick wit and endless jokes. He was always willing to lend a hand to help anyone in need. He looked at his Grandchildren with pride and enjoyed listening to and watching their accomplishments.  

Rich was employed by Vermilion Twp. when he was young. He worked at Lorain Ford for 32 years as a cushion builder and utility man. After retiring from Ford he work at Higgins Pharmacy in Amherst and Ohliger Drugs of North Olmsted as a delivery driver. 
 
He is survived by his wife Holly Long, Son Ronald (Brandi) Dvorscak of Lorain, Daughter Janice E Haigood of Loveland, OH, Brother Gary (Christine) Dvorscak, Grandchildren: Jonathon Edward Dvorscak, Amelia Grace Haigood, William Adorno, Jazmine Adorno and Destiny Adorno.

Rich was preceded in death by his Parents and Brother Terry Lee Dvorscak.

Rich was always seen in a flannel shirt, T-shirt and blue jeans. The family requests that all attendees wear jeans, T-shirt and flannel shirt to the funeral in his honor.

Visitation will be held 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM January 25, 2025 followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals 1124 W. 5th St. Lorain, with Robert Andrew Hlasko (Cousin) officiating.

Burial will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church Food Pantry located at 1019 W. 5th St. in Lorain.
