Richard C. "Rich" Hite, Jr., 52 of Vermilion passed away on Saturday, December 21. 2019 at Mercy-New Life Hospice in Lorain following a lengthy illness.
Rich was born in Lorain on February 25, 1967, the son of Edis (nee Peasley) Hite and the late Richard C. Hite Sr.
He worked construction all his working career and was a member of the Carpenter's Union Local.
Rich was blessed with the ability to see the beauty in all things. He collected rocks and stones as he walked along, seeing beauty in each one. He enjoyed making pencil drawings and in High School received several certificates for his free hand drawings of nature. He graduated from Vermillion High School with the class of 1985.
He was a devoted conservationist and hunter. Using only his bow and arrow to hunt, he harvested only the animals that he could consume. He loved being out of doors, regardless of the weather. He loved to fish, spending countless hours watching and listening to the water. He was an accomplished chess player and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was always ready for a card game with his buddies and sister. He enjoyed listening to the Allman Brothers, and Van Halen bands. He loved working on his own car and truck. When he became unable to work he enjoyed watching the History Channel and the Food Channel on TV.. Win or Lose, he was always the devout Cleveland Brown's Fan.
In addition to his mother Edis of Vermilion, he is survived by a son Steven Hite, sister Lisa Hite of Vermilion and former wife Shannon Hite of Elyria, as well as cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Hite, Grandparents Orville and Ruth Hite, Lorraine Mayer, Merril Peasley and Edward Hintz.
Friends and Relatives are invited to the Birmingham United Methodist Church, 15018 South Street in Birmingham on Saturday, January 4, 2020 beginning at 10:00 am.
Services to Celebrate His Life at 11:00 am in the church with Rev. Richard Kretchmar officiating.
