Richard Lee McCartney

Richard "Rick" McCartney, 69, of Lorain, Ohio, passed into eternity on May 23, 2023, in his home. He was a man of great humility and deep devotion to his family. As a proud Marine through and through, Rick served his country with integrity and unwavering respect for all of creation.

Born on April 16, 1954, in Sutton, West Virginia, to Emogean Buckley and Raymond Packar McCartney, Rick attended Lorain High School and went on to work for Harshaw Chemical as a chemical processor, as a truck driver for Zone Expediting, and as a tow truck driver/operator for Vaughns. 

Rick led a life filled with gratitude and respect for the world around him, finding joy in the simple things. Whether he was on the lake fishing and boating or out in the wilderness hunting and trapping wild game, he always appreciated the beauty of God's creation. His deep faith led him to North Lake Baptist and Midway Baptist, where he found community and solace in the presence of God.

Rick was survived by his wife, Tina McCartney; daughter, Crystal McCartney; granddaughter, Savannah Carstensen; grandson, Austin McCartney; and great-grandchildren, Avarie Carstensen, Levi Carstensen, and Colton Carstensen. He was preceded in death by his sister, Zora Kessler; brother, Joe Baughman; mother, Emogean Buckley; father, Raymond Packar McCartney; and daughter, Yolanda McCartney.

In memory of a life lived with unwavering humility and respect, contributions can be directed to Midway Baptist Church. Rick's spirit and dedication to his family and country will always be remembered.

Friends and relatives may call on Friday, May 26, 2023 in the Midway Baptist Church, 41812 Griswold Rd, Elyria, OH 44035 from 4 pm until 7 pm.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 3:30 pm in the Church with Rev. Rick Keesee, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman on June 1, 2023 at 1:45 pm with full military honors.
