The world became a little quieter on April 26, 2026, when Rita Louise Rosso, age 74, left us. To know Rita was to know warmth, humor, and a rare kind of steadiness. She had a gift for making ordinary days feel meaningful-often with a joke delivered at just the right moment or a smile that could soften even the hardest day.
Born in Florence, Ohio, Rita built a life rooted in love, optimism, and genuine connection. She remained positive no matter the situation, always choosing to look for the bright spot and helping others find it too. Her laughter was unmistakable, her spirit unwavering, and her ability to lift others up was one of her greatest gifts.
Rita loved telling jokes, and she shared them generously-sometimes to lighten a room,
sometimes to comfort someone who needed it, and often simply because joy was something she believed should be shared. She poured herself into the people she cared about, offering encouragement, kindness, and a sense of belonging that made her presence unforgettable.
She is survived by her son Jared Rosso, daughter-in-law Nicole Williamson, her brother David Bostater and his wife Alice, and her brother Tom Bostater and his wife Becky, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by her sister Pat Schaffer (née Bostater).
Visitation will be held from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 1, at Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals 1124 W. 5th Street Lorain, Ohio 44052. A closing prayer will follow at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cleveland Animal Protective League, a cause close to Rita’s heart.
Rita’s absence will be deeply felt, but her stories, her laughter, and her unwavering positivity will continue to echo in the lives of all who were lucky enough to know her. Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals is honored to assist the Rosso family during this difficult time.
