Robert L. Johnson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at the age of 85. His life was marked by quiet strength, dedication, and unwavering love for his family and country.
Born in Owosso, Michigan, on April 21, 1940, Robert was the cherished son of the late Helen E. (Stanton) and Russell L. Johnson. He graduated from Corunna High School in Corunna, Michigan, and later settled in Lorain, Ohio, where he spent much of his life.
Robert served honorably in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War, a period that shaped his enduring values of service, sacrifice, and humility. He remained a proud veteran throughout his life and was a dedicated member of American Legion Post #211 in Avon Lake.
Following his military service, Robert worked as a custodian with the Lorain Board of Education for over 20 years, primarily at Admiral King High School in Lorain, Ohio. His quiet dedication to his work and community left a lasting impression on those around him.
He was also a member of the Senior Fellowship Club of Lorain.
A man of simple joys, Robert found peace in woodworking and the comfort of country music. His hands created, his heart listened, and his spirit brought calm to those who knew him.
Robert's greatest treasure was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth A. (Poynter) Johnson; and his three daughters: Dawn Z. (Dan) Bihary of Lorain, Ohio; Mechelle Z. (Roy) Jones of Amherst, Ohio; and Bobbi (Michael) Bell of Queen Creek, Arizona. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and laughter.
