Shawn Eric Stark, 57, passed away at his home on February 17, 2021. He was born May 30, 1963 in Elyria, Ohio. Shawn is the son of Robert Leroy Stark and the late Sandra Kay Stark (nee Retay). As the eldest, he sheltered and protected his younger brothers, Darren and Ryan Stark, from a demanding upbringing. Shawn graduated with distinction from Firelands High School in 1981. In high school, he was known for his good looks and strong presence. As a teenager, he enjoyed working with the community at Matt’s Meat Market. After graduating, he found his passion for welding working for his grandfather’s company, Retay Welding.
Shawn was a proud veteran and spent over 11 years serving his country, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant working on F-16 Fighter Jets. During his time in the military, he served active duty in the Air Force, the U.S. Air Force Reserves, and the Air National Guard. While serving, he received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Reward, the Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon and the Air Force Overseas Ribbon Long Tour. After his active duty military service, he began his career as a Welding and Sheet Metal Professional. He was an active member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 33. In addition to his many professional accomplishments, Shawn was a gifted guitarist playing with several bands throughout Lorain County.
He always tried his hardest to show others how much he valued their love and connection. He fought many internal battles but will be remembered for always showing up for his friends and family.
