Sixto Ortega, 94 of Lorain passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Mercy-New Life Hospice following a brief illness.
Mr. Ortega was born in Bayamon, PR on November 18, 1927, a son of the late Segundo and Dolores (nee Alvares) Ortega.
He was employed as a New York City Cab driver for Gerald J. Picaso, Inc for 20 years, retiring n 1993. He also had worked as the building superintendant for an 80 unit apartment building for many years. He also owned and operated his own moving business known as Las Antillas Express.
Mr. Ortega also served as a Boy Scout leader for several years.
Sixto is survived by a son Sixto Ortega, Jr, of Ridgefield Park, NJ; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, sister Julia Fonseca of Bayamon, PR, brother Segundo Ortega also of Bayamon, PR, many nieces and nephews and his caregiver and sister in law Dr. Irma Hanson of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice Ortega on Dec 20, 2020, a son Richard Ortega and 10 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call on Friday, November 4, 2022 starting at 1:30 pm; followed at 2:30 pm with funeral services in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052. Deacon Rocky Ortiz will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
